Tompkins
County Public Library, in partnership with the Tompkins County Office of Human
Rights and the Dorothy Cotton Institute, will host the 2015 Human Rights Art
Competition Awards Ceremony, Thursday, December 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Avenue of
the Friends.
The
28th Annual Human Rights Art Competition is designed to encourage students
in grades kindergarten through 12 to explore issues central to universal—civil,
political, economic, social and cultural—rights. The United Nations’ 30 Articles
of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights served as inspiration for this
year’s artists.
Award
recipients were announced December 3 and will be feted during the awards
ceremony. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Refreshments
will be provided.
For
more information, contact the Office of Human Rights at (607) 277-4080 or Mary
McKeon at the Library at mmckeon@tcpl.org.
