County Public Library, in partnership with the Ithaca College Film Society,
will host a free screening of the 1978 feature, “Orchestra Rehearsal,” Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 6 p.m. in
the BorgWarner Community Room-East
“Orchestra
Rehearsal,” directed by Federico Fellini, follows the uprising that occurs in
front of the cameras as a documentary film crew descends upon an ancient chapel
to cover the rehearsal of a symphony orchestra, ultimately offering a
look at the joys, sorrows, controversies and triumphs of mankind.
Ithaca
College Film Society member Emily DeRoo will discuss the film’s musical plot
line and its political undertones resulting from its filming during the
post-World War II rebuilding and rebranding of Italy.
This
presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Tom
Burns at tburns@tcpl.org.
