Library Announces Historic Ithaca Exhibition

Tompkins County Public Library has announced the opening of “It Takes More Than Nostalgia: Celebrating 50 Years of Historic Ithaca and Community Preservation,” a photographic exhibit highlighting key moments and contributions from Historic Ithaca’s 50-year history.

Founded in 1966--in response to the loss of Ithaca’s Old City Hall building--and with additional historic site demolitions on the horizon, Historic Ithaca was organized to preserve historic architectural gems in Ithaca and Tompkins County.

An assortment of artifacts on-loan from Significant Elements, Historic Ithaca’s architectural salvage and re-use warehouse, are also on display in the Library’s Avenue of the Friends through the end of June.

For more information about this or other Library exhibits, contact Exhibit Coordinator Sally Grubb at sgrubb@tcpl.org or (607) 272-4557 extension 232.

For information about Historic Ithaca and available salvage items, contact Preservation Services Coordinator Christine O’Malley at (607) 273-6633 or visit www.historicithaca.org.
