Library to Present Four Exhibits During October Gallery Night

Tompkins County Public Library will showcase four original exhibits during Downtown Ithaca’s Gallery Night, Friday, October 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a reception in the BorgWarner Community Room.

Featured works on display throughout the library will include:

“In Progress:  Images From the Portfolios of Photography Students”—Curated by Robyn Wishna, lecturer in photography at Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications, this exhibit includes an eclectic selection of photographs and will be on display in the Library’s New Fiction section and North Reading Room through mid-November.

“Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Ithaca City of Asylum (ICOA)”—The Ithaca City of Asylum will launch their annual celebration of the freedom to read with this fascinating exhibit featuring photographs, books and posters recognizing the work of the writers who have been sponsored by ICOA.  This exhibit will be on display in the Avenue of the Friends through October.

“Yemen: The Forgotten War”—Presented by Amnesty International Group 73 of Ithaca, this exhibit features the work of photojournalist Rawan Shaif and was funded by the Special Initiative Fund of Amnesty International in an effort to advocate for and inform people about the Yemeni Civil War.

“Past Meets Present: The Changing Built Environment of Tompkins County”—Sponsored by Historic Ithaca, Inc., “Past Meets Present” uses re-photography to merge historic photographs and modern photos.  Featured works will illustrate the evolving architectural fabric of Tompkins County.  Photos were created by Tompkins Cortland Community College students in celebration of Historic Ithaca, Inc.’s 50th anniversary.

Gallery Night is free and open to the public.  After-hours library access is available through the BorgWarner Community Room entrance, adjacent to TCAT’s East Green Street bus shelter.
