Library to Host Maurer for Program for Families of Transitioning Children


Tompkins County Public Library will host award-winning author and educator Luca Maurer for “Families in Transition,” a discussion about supporting children and teens exploring their gender identity, Tuesday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the BorgWarner Community Room-East.

Being held in conjunction with the Library’s “4 Seasons Book Club” reading of “This Is How it Always Is”  by Laurie Frankel, this program is designed for parents, caregivers, educators and those interested in exploring transgender characters and themes in literature.

Maurer is the director of Ithaca College’s LGBT Education, Outreach and Services Program, the co-author of the award-winning book “The Transgender Toolkit” and a member of the Tompkins County Public Library Board of Trustees.
