Library Seeking Teen Leaders

It’s an incredible time to be a teen at Tompkins County Public Library. With the construction of our brand new teen center underway, a visionary Teen Services librarian on staff and amazing programs being planned for the coming months, the opportunities for young adults to connect and grow with TCPL are endless!

We’re doing our part to make the Library an amazing place for young people, but we know that the people who can really help to ensure the success of our Teen Services are teens themselves. That’s why we’re inviting young adults in grades 6 to 12 to join our award-winning Junior Library Advisory Council (JLAC).

JLAC members earn community service and leadership development credit by supporting, advising and advocating for services for young adults and teens. Activities include, helping the Library to choose books, planning events, decorating for holidays, representing TCPL at programs like Wizarding Weekend, and working on special projects throughout the year.

The first meeting of the fall will be held Wednesday, September 6 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. where new and returning Council members will help to plan the October 13 unveiling of the Library’s teen center.
