Tompkins County Public Library will host the 20th
Annual Conference on Depression November 15 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the
BorgWarner Community Room.
This heavily-attended annual event provides an opportunity for people living with depression, family members and mental health/human services professionals to learn about depression and discover approaches to and resources for recovery and wellness.
This year’s keynote speech, “Depression: Are We Doing All We Can?,” will be presented by Henry D. Gerson, M.D., medical director of behavioral health at Cayuga Medical Center.
Featured workshops will explore the benefits of Chinese medicine, talk therapy in the 21st century, antidepressant medications and spirituality and depression. The Conference will close with a book talk by Sarah Glogowski, head of the Library’s Youth Services Department.
The conference is free and open to the public; however, registration is appreciated. To request an American Sign Language Interpreter or an accommodation for a disability, contact Larry Roberts at Finger Lakes Independence Center at (607) 272-2433.
