Tompkins
County Public Library, in partnership with the Ithaca Youth Bureau and Civil
Ensemble, will host “Owen’s Story: The Rules of the Game,” an original play
performed by acclaimed youth theatre and improvisational troupe, Tin Can
Fantasy Factory, Monday, August 10 at 11 a.m. in the Library’s Thaler/Howell
Programming Room.
“Owen’s
Story” follows third graders Owen and Susan as they navigate through their
anxiety-filled first days at a new school and offers insight into the
importance of acceptance and inclusion.
This performance is interactive and
will include engaging conversations between the actors and audience
members. The audience will have the opportunity to think critically,
offer advice and share what they know and believe. “Owen’s Story” asks
participants to grapple with how to include people with disabilities and how
their decisions affect other people. In the end, the play offers participants
the opportunity to examine what true friendship is.
This
program is free and open to families with children ages 5 and up. For
more information, contact Kate DeVoe at kdevoe@tcpl.org
