County Public Library, in partnership with the American Association of
University Women’s Ithaca Branch, will host “The Teacher Wars: A History
of America’s Most Embattled Profession” a panel discussion, Saturday, February 13 at 11
a.m. in the Library’s BorgWarner Community Room.
The
panel will encourage four educators with unique insights, inspiring stories and
intriguing ideas about the education system to share their thoughts on the
best-selling book, “The Teacher Wars” by Dana Goldstein.
Featured
panelists are: Randy Ehrenberg, former educator and administrator for the
Ithaca City School District and retired superintendent of the North Colonie
School District (Albany County), Sue Mittler, past president of the Ithaca
Teacher’s Association, Andrea Kiely, a former Ithaca High School global studies
teacher and current director for admissions and advising for Cornell
University’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning, and tutor Betty House,
who taught students at the elementary, middle and high school levels, most
recently at Northeast Elementary.
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) promotes
