Tompkins County Public Library invites patrons to make history while building the library of the future during the Saturday, May 7 launch of the TCPL LEGO® Build.
With
support from the Tompkins County Public Library Foundation—and more than 100,000
LEGO bricks—families, individuals, businesses, clubs and service organizations
will help construct a 7 ½-foot by 7 ½-foot replica of the library, including
the upcoming additions of a state-of-the-art teen center and digital learning
lab.
The
launch party will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Library’s North
Reading Room. Completed 250-piece modules will be placed on a
pre-constructed foundation throughout the day. A custom LEGO cake provided by Darling Cakes
will be available throughout the day, and entertainment will be provided from
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. courtesy of Circus Culture.
Interested
builders are invited to drop-in during Saturday’s launch party to purchase and
build a module or to attend our free, weekly LEGO in the Library program from 2
to 3 p.m. in the Thaler/Howell Programming Room.
To
reserve a module for placement during a later Build date, click the TCPL LEGO
Build icon at http://www.tcplfoundation.org/
or contact Josiah Jacobus-Parker at jjacobusparker@tcpl.org,
(607) 272-4557 extension 261. Modules are available for a donation of
$50, with proceeds benefitting Library programs and services.
Each
module purchased will earn an entry into a giveaway for a family Stay and Splash
package at Hope Lake Lodge and Indoor Waterpark. The drawing will take
place at the June 18th unveiling of the LEGO Library.
For
more information, contact Tompkins County Public Library Foundation Executive
Director Suzanne Smith Jablonski at (607) 272-4557 extension 231 or ssmithjablonski@tcpl.org.
Modules
