Area
teens are invited to help build a better world by learning about how to get
involved in local politics, as Tompkins County Public Library hosts, “Politics
for Teens,” Wednesday, August 2 at 2 p.m. in the Thaler/Howell
Programming Room.
Being
held in conjunction with the Library’s Build a Better World Summer Reading
Program, “Politics for Teens” include special guests, City of Ithaca Mayor
Svante Myrick; Leslie Danks Burke, founder and president of Trailblazers PAC;
Town of Big Flats (Chemung) Supervisor Ed Fairbrother, and Ithaca’s Second Ward
Alderperson Ducson Nguyen, who will discuss how they got involved in politics,
what drove them as teenagers and how participants can become civically-engaged
citizens.
This
program is free and open to students ages 12 through 18. Advance registration
