In celebration of “Build A Better World,” the Tompkins County Public Library’s Adult Summer Reading Program, the Library will host “Home Remedies and Emergency Care,” an informative program and demonstration on how to use everyday items to heal and improve health, Tuesday, June 27 at 6 p.m. in the BorgWarner Community Room-West.
Facilitated by Jacquelyn Blizzard, co-director of the Eastman Hill
Health and Training Center and local natural health instructor, this program
will offer tips for curing and minimizing the symptoms of common ailments and
injuries-- like using an onion to cure congestion and potatoes for pain relief.
The Library’s “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Program
encourages adult readers to share the bond of books by reading and reviewing
books. Participants who read and write a short review of a book between June 24
and August 5 will be eligible to win raffle prizes donated by local businesses.
Authors of the top three reviews, as judged by Summer Reading librarians, will
receive special prizes.
Reviews
should be dropped off at the Adult Reference Desk or submitted through the
summer reading website http://tcpl.org/events-exhibits/summer-reading.php.
Registration and reviews will not be accepted until June 24.
